Babes, Bombs, and Blockbusters Movie News Report 7.29.08
Posted by Mike Gorman on 07.29.2008
Mike Gorman is back with this Tuesday’s 3B’s News Report. Join him for a look at what has Mr. T all emotional, which celebs might have mixed up their pills, and a status update on Shia LeBeouf, which includes the emergency surgery he underwent this weekend. Your Hot Shot this week is the gorgeous Lucy Pinder who comes to us from across the pond in England and is this week’s Trunk see what ten ideas Mike thinks might be the best next steps for the Batman film franchise.
Just when you thought it was safe to read 411Mania on Tuesdays, I'm back, bitches! The 3B's Headquarters has now safely been relocated to California and I am on the hunt for all remaining film prints of X3; though at the moment that is not urgent. What is important however is that you get your fill of this week's Hot Shot, Lucy Pinder. More about her follows this weeks news, humor, and a top ten list that strives to help keep the Bat franchise' momentum going now that The Dark Knight is conquering the planet.
The G Spot
The G Spot is your place for the day's movie news with the occasional cameo from the land of television.
I pity this fool.
Mr. T, there's a name you expect to see in the headlines more often, is apparently quite upset that the producers of the upcoming A-Team film would only like him for a cameo with no relationship to the character he originated. Rumored casting has Ice Cube taking on "B.A. Baracus" in this big screen adaptation of the 1980's TV series. I do hope that Mr. T will be able to restrain his tears as I am pretty sure they would rust the mound of gold plated chains he sports around his next. He sadly has to sell the real gold on E-bay a few years back or at least that is what I would assume.
Bet he wishes Bumblebee was real now.
According to his agent, Shia LeBeouf is recovering from extensive hand surgery following his alleged drunk driving accident early Sunday morning. LeBeouf will supposedly be ready to begin filming on Transformers 2 when it begins in about a month. Cross your fingers that LeBeouf's recent string of run in's with the law do not continue to escalate before the film's release. No one wants to see an alien robot movie headlined by a perpetual felon... oh wait, we eat that kind of stuff up! Maybe he'll steal Optimus Prime and go joy riding next.
Still saying, "No, no, no" Amy?
Amy Winehouse was admitted to the hospital this weekend after a "crazy scene" at her London home according to Yahoo News. Shockingly, Amy's erratic behavior began earlier in the weekend when she was seen throwing herself to the floor, sobbing uncontrollably and taking her anger out on a poor metal fence. Initial reports did not indicate any reasons for her behavior but it was later released that she was suffering from a reaction to prescribed medication. Sure. No, I believe it; On to the next story.
One Upping Winehouse
Never one to be outdone by Amy Winehouse, Kelsey Grammer was also admitted to a hospital this weekend for a reaction to his medication. Maybe they accidentally swapped prescriptions the last time they were getting coffee together?
"Family Guy" Show runner to take on zombies
David A. Goodman, "Family Guy" Show runner/Executive producer, will be adapting Blatant Comics' "Lost Blood" for a big screen production. "Lost Blood" is the story of a band of survivors of a zombie apocalypse who find themselves under the protective care of vampires who need the pure human blood. Zombies and Vampires together in one film? I think this has hit written all over it, no sarcasm intended. If done well, I can definitely see the horror audience attaching itself to this franchise. At the very least it will be interesting to see these creatures attempt to adapt to all the random non-sequitur flashbacks Goodman is sure to incorporate.
This story making headlines proves this is a slow news week.
Rebecca Romijn and her husband Jerry O'Connell are preparing to become first-time parents after learning the model-turned-actress is expecting twins. Not really sure where to take this one. I could make some comment about hoping there is no blue paint left in the birth cannel after Romijn played Mystique in the X-Men films. Jerry O'Connell did play the fat kid in Stand By Me so that leaves him open to jokes about sympathy weight gain. I'm sorry. These two really are just so boring that I am going to end this here and let you feast your eyes on another picture of Lucy.
The Trunk
Everyone is talking about The Dark Knight wherever you go or whatever group of people you are around. I have seen the film twice myself and agree with many reviewers that this film was near perfect. Of course most reviews and discussions tend to focus on Heath Ledger's unbelievably amazing performance at the Joker. It was clearly a perfect storm role where writing, directing, and acting came together in such a way to create an energy on film that we have not witnessed in a long time. At the end of my first viewing of the film I was riding high on a wave of fandom; ecstatic to have finally seen the chaotic energy of the Joker captured so wonderfully. What followed however was a profound sadness as a result of knowing that we would never be able to sample this character in such a way again. Joy and loss merge in my thoughts now as I reflect on the movie's impact on the Batman franchise. Many times this week I have asked myself and those around me, "So what next? How can the creators attempt to move on from this success and tragedy?" What follows below are ten different ideas I have about different directions the next film could take. Will you feel the same as I do about the concepts? Probably not but I share them nonetheless to spur dialogue about what will be the next phase in the Batman legacy. A good number of these ideas are gathered from a variety of sources so know that I do not claim them as my own. I just believe that they could work for the franchise at this time. I list them here in no particular order.
10. Bring back Harvey Dent
From the visual effects to the performance of Aaron Eckhart, Harvey "Two Face" Dent jumped off the screen in The Dark Knight. He was no pink faced, white haired, maniac as the character had previously been portrayed. Instead we watched his descent into true madness but sadly were only given quick glimpses into just how deep that madness was rooted in Dent. His scenes as Two Face were pivotal to the film's climax but I was left wanting more. Yes, I do hear you screaming at the screen, "Harvey's dead! We saw him fall!" We even saw his twisted body, but we never saw what actually happened to the remains and as this was set in a comic book universe there is always hope for a resurrection. Perhaps Harvey's death was staged so that his fury could again be released on Gotham if the coin flip deems it so.
9. Batman... the hunted
This one flows directly out of the film's closing scenes. Batman is now public enemy #1 in Gotham City. Intensify the hunt for Batman with a mysterious benefactor putting a price on his head in the interest of public good. Yes the underworld already did that to him in this current film but what if the citizenry were to get involved? What would it be like for Batman to need to stay one step ahead of the hunters while still trying to protect his home? Bring in a mask-less hero who the populace would worship for his openness and have him turn out to be the villain; A manipulator who uses the negative feelings about Batman to gather his own favor, lulling Gotham into a false sense of security.
8. Bane
Not the caricature of Bane that was in a previous Batman film but Bane as an unstoppable behemoth who cannot be curtailed by Batman's intellect. Put up pure brute force against Bruce's mind and then have him falter. It could culminate in a hand to hand battle between the two where Bruce's reliance on his toys must be laid aside.
7. World's Greatest Detective
Similar to the last idea, present Bruce Wayne with a challenge that will not be solved with any of Lucius Fox's inventions. I'd propose a darker revival of the Riddler here that would really test Batman's detective skills. Intricate clues would lead Batman deeper and deeper into the puzzle the Riddler has made out of Gotham itself.
6. Catwoman alone
Do not pair Catwoman with any other villains this time around. I truly think that the current series of Bat writers have captured a tone in the last two films that would support the development of a darker love story between Batman and a woman he knows he should bring to justice. The character's emotions are already in upheaval over the loss of Rachel. This idea would play on that slowly opening Bruce Wayne's heart again only to find the object of his affection is a cat burglar. Is she as bad as a psychopath like the Joker or can she be rehabilitated? That is a question only Batman should answer.
5. Batman Beyond
Perhaps it is time to lay this version of the Bat to rest and allow a fresher franchise to carry the torch. Batman Beyond has a fully actualized universe of characters who spring out of but are not bogged down by current continuity. What I like about this series is that the Batman is an icon that can be passed on while still paying homage and respect to the Bruce Wayne character. I know this one will not be too popular but I do believe it has a lot of potential.
4. World's Finest
Since I am already over the top (or headed there!) why not entertain the idea of finally making the Batman and Superman movie a reality. I would personally love to see a boardroom confrontation between Lex Luthor and Bruce Wayne. This film would make that possible. It would also allow a good director to play with the idea of superheroes and whether or not powers automatically make one better than another. I am also a huge fan of the last son of Krypton and think that this could revitalize his films as well.
3. Talia Al Ghul
The daughter of Ra's Al Ghul would want to resurrect her father and his greatest enemy might feel otherwise. The fact that these two characters have back story together would allow for more flashbacks to Bruce Wayne's training to become Batman with a focus not just on the physical side but his psychological development. If Bruce did find some form of love with Talia but then lost it because of her father, her reappearance in his life would be interesting to see. Of course they should keep the son of Batman story out of this one as it would get too complicated.
2. Harley Quinn
Perhaps she exists already in the universe of The Dark Knight and is not just waiting to strike when she receives word from the Arkham imprisoned Joker. The Joker would not need to be seen and in fact it could turn out that she was just talking to herself every time she acted like she was talking to him. Present her as the obsessed fan who is not out of control but instead very devious and conniving. She plays the whimsical jester but what lies beneath that facade?
1. Robin
Please stay with me for a minute on this one as I do think it could work. Instead of using the Dick Grayson story, skip it. With the tone of the first two films as they were, Bruce Wayne taking in a young ward and training him to fight is a bit too dark and borderline Dateline NBC's "To Catch a Predator." Instead follow the storyline of Tim Drake. A teenager with too much time on his hands starts to see patterns no one else does in the exploits of the Batman. For most of the film, Batman fights some other villain, perhaps Two Face, and does not notice the boy who keeps showing up at the scenes of his battles and at Wayne Foundation events. Eventually Tim confronts Bruce Wayne with his discovery of Batman's identity. He has his own parents at this point so he is not looking for a father figure. He just wants to help and of course Batman wants no part of it. He sees the danger in bringing a child into the field. What Drake does eventually convince him in this film is that he could help him with his computer and technology expertise especially since Lucius Fox has resigned. Tim becomes an intern for Wayne Enterprises and does not don the tights or battle armor in this film. There are flashes of potential for Tim to take a more active role in the future but at the moment he is more of an "Oracle"-type character. Yes this idea rips apart the Robin mythos in the comics but these are films not comics. I think that taking a realistic approach to a character like Tim's involvement in the world of the Batman could be interesting and would not camp up the film as red, yellow, and green costumed ward would.
You now have my ten ideas. What are your thoughts? Would take anything I have suggested in a different direction or what completely different ideas do you have? As always I look forward to hearing what you have to say.
Come Again?: Your Joke Source
The Smartly Dressed Woman
A man walks into a bar. He sees a good looking, smartly dressed woman perched on a bar stool. He walks up behind her and says "Hi there good looking, how's it going?"
She turns around, faces him, looks him straight in the eye and says "Listen, I'll screw anybody, anytime, anywhere, your place, my place, it doesn't matter. I've been doing it ever since I got out of college. I just flat out love it." To which he says "No kidding? I'm a lawyer too! What firm are you with?"
Winning The Lottery
Woman rushes into her house one morning and yells to her husband, "Sam, pack up your stuff. I just won the lottery!" Excited, the husband asks "Shall I pack for warm weather or cold?" To which the wife replies "Whatever. Just so long as you're out of the house by noon!"
Tuesday Hot Shot

hey great colum Mike.
you bring an interesting idea i never thought of. what if someone steps up and tries to take on batman, and paints himself as a hero, like, one the city is behind to get rid of Batman, but is actually a villian himself. i dont know who could play that role, maybe Bane, im not sure.
i like the idea of harley quinn. if she was some crazy fanatic and tries to emulate the joker, the only problem is it might be percieved as joker-lite, you know, but i'd still pay to see that.
bring back two-face? hell yes.
riddler? eh, i dont know, i guess it could work fine.
catwoman? yes please!

Lucius Fox never resigned. Once he typed in his name, the machine was destroyed, and he walked away with a smile on his face. He said he would only resign if that kind of equipment remained at Wayne Enterprises.

Fuck Batman. More Lucy Pinder, please.

The only way I can see this ending with a trilogy is with "The Dark Knight" returns storyline. Start it twenty years in the future with Bruce having flashbacks to how Gotham crumbled to corruption with him doing his best, forcing him to retire (Alfed dies in the crossfire or something). Finally, something makes him come back out of retirement at 50something and don the cowl once more. Use Tim Drake as an Oracle idea, but end it with Batman victorious, but dead, a martyr and icon.
Of course, when I left the Dark Knight, I just thought about a Talia Al Ghul and Harley Quinn team up, to take down Batman systematically. Riddler would seem like too much of a Joker-wannabe, and most of his other villains are just lame.

Personally I'm kind of glad that Romijn and O'Connell are a boring couple. I happen to think both are good with each other, and they both seem to have a good sense of humor.
I wouldn't incorporate Robin into this Batman reboot, same with Catwoman unless they make her slightly vamp-ish but very serious. It could work with her trying to steal/blackmail something from Bruce Wayne. I also wouldn't even dare to try Batman Beyond as a live action film.
I do agree with Harley Quinn, especially as a deranged, obsessed woman. I'd prefer to see Harley in a small role for a future buildup, but only at the end of the third film.
Riddler could be a good addition, but I think that it might be too similar to Joker in a sense, so he might be better off left for a future installment. There would be too many comparisons by non-comic fans.
Clayface isn't too realistic for a future villain, so I think bringing back Two-Face could be superb, assuming they were able to explain the "death" in a logical way.

those jokes... boooooo!
Posted By: Guest#1388 (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 01:47 AM
can't their just be someone who could reprise the Joker role, maybe Daniel Day Lewis? I think that would be stunning.
Posted By: Lucius (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 01:56 AM
No Robin...ever. Robin will just bring the franchi9se to a screeching halt. No Harley Quinn either as she would be to weak to carry the film alone. No two to three villains either (see Spiderman 3). I think only Catwoman or the Riddler stand to work in another film.
Posted By: Wemedge (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 01:58 AM
I like the idea of a villain presenting himself as a new hero to gotham while Batman's on the run. To further that idea here are 4 scenarios:
Bane (maybe Javier Bardem -'No Country for old men) presents himself as the new hero and with the aid of the riddler or Penguin (Sean Penn) uses traps to get the best of the bat.
Deadshot (Gerard Butler-'300') presents himself as the new protector of Gotham promising to capture the Bat meanwhile a deranged and deformed predator roams the streets of Gotham by night- Killer Croc (A mix of Hannibal Lecter and Jack the ripper/ Daniel Craig-'Casino Royale')
Hugo Strange performs experiments on an Arkham Assylum prisoner (Vince Vaughn) who at night becomes Manbat terrorizing Gotham. The citizens and media mistake this as Batman.
Harvey Dent (maybe his face is restored)returns miraculously after being resurrected (Lazarus pits or something else?) by Ra's Al Ghul using his power in government to further push Ghul's agenda. A swerve could be that Harvey Dent is really Clay Face!
Posted By: Grey Ghost (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 02:52 AM
Not sure why everyone thinks Two-Face died at the end as it was clear Batman and Gordon just claimed Dent died so people wouldn't think the Joker won.
Face is probably somewhere in Arkum right now.

lucy pinder....she lives in my city.....not so great out of the photos..

In all the talk I've heard about "what to do with the bat?" Clayface seems to come up often...I think what people are missing here is the fact that Nolan's films are more "crime drama" than "superhero". When thinking about new villians we must maintain some reality.
Harely Quinn could be a great story, but I'm not sure it has enough power to stand alone...perhaps build toward her shifting her obsession towards the new madman on the block (Riddler) as a nice bridge to the fourth film. Either way I'm sure Nolan & Bale will keep it amazing.
Posted By: Ramone (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 05:51 AM
As to stick with the darker and action packed I would love to see them somehow go with the Bane/Azrael story line and keep it somewhat true to the comics. Breaking of batmans back and azrael taking over.
Posted By: Daniel (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 06:28 AM
Why does everyone think Bane is just pure mass? In the original Knightfall storyline, he was deviously cunning, but that aspect has been left out of every single portrayal I've seen of the character.
As for future villains, I haven't seen The Dark Knight yet (it's been sold out all four times I tried to go, but I've Fandango'ed tickets for tonight), but if there are fears that the Riddler would be seen as too Joker-derivative, then either the Joker in TDK is off, or the idea behind the Riddler is off the character's true spirit. Joker is a sociopath who doesn't care about collateral damage (people included), whereas the Riddler should be a simple thief whose greatest joy is taunting the Dark Knight Detective with clues as to where and when he'll strike. I think if played out properly, it could be an awesome suspense movie that just so happens to star Batman (like how TDK is supposedly a great action movie that just so happens to star Batman). Think Bone Collector, or something along those lines.
And to Grey Ghost - they already did a very similar story to your proposed Deadshot/Killer Croc combo in Batman: Gotham Knight, which is in canon for this series of Batman movies.

i wouldnt mindif they finally did the batman superman flick and you had superman hunting down the masked vigilante batman only to have the big throw down and gordon tell clark hat hes actually innocent, just my 2 cents
Posted By: Guest#6069 (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 08:06 AM
i like the harley quinn idea but they need to focus on lesser known characters like jonathan nolan wants too... in that case you would have to pair two villains..or maybe harley and the riddler together until the joker comes back ... bringing the joker back in the next film is way to quick even though i think johnny depp can do just as good of a job as Heath Ledger... it was down to depp or ledger for the joker role anyways.. have the riddler as the main villain and harley as a minor character, building her up for the next film, so u see her just fantasizing about the joker maybe even have her visit the joker in Arkham where the love interest could start and at the end or after the credits u see her put on the outfit...how many people would mark out to that? i know i would
Posted By: james2018 (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 08:45 AM
dude i love you for saying to follow the tim drake story your an f'in genius i have said this all along, but i think introduce dick grayson just have him not really be robin at first and show him go off as night wing, also bane would be sweet and so would brian singers superman being introduced into it and do frank millers story where batman is public enemy number one so they sick supes on him but superman is the one who realizes that batman is good, GOD I LOVE COMICS
Posted By: 411 manias enemy (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 09:14 AM
wemedge if you understood what he was talking boaut with the tim drake robin then you would understand that he isn't a normal robin he really is the next dark night hes not a campy douche nozzel and you get someone like emile hirsch to play him that would be so amazing just mix the stories together, im going with frank millers batman story though because you can introduce superman
Posted By: 411 manias enemy (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 09:19 AM
Two-Face has to be brought back. Eckhart did an amazing job as him and left me pining for more. it would be incredibly easy to explain the apparent "death" at the end of the movie. here are some possibilities
1. as mentioned before the funeral was a fake, hes actually locked away in arkum.
2. funeral was a fake, his body has dissapeared when they went to collect it, cliche i know but it would work as long as they moved past that quickly
3. this one is a stretch but have him wake up and shoot his way out of the morgue, and the funeral is done as a cover up
on a side note as to how easy it would be, at the end of the Dark Knight u can clearly see a flutter of life in two face when they turn him over. whether this was bad acting or something thrown in intentionally to leave options open who knows, we'll just have to wait and see.

For part 3 have Talia Al Ghul and her dad's League of Shadows return to Gotham and finish what dad had started. Use Deathshot as a hired gun. Wrap up that trilogy also with Two-Face.
For part 4 use the Riddler and make the movie like Seven by only have the Riddler reveal himself at the end. Towards the end when the Riddler is taken to Arkum, have Harley (who works at the Aslym) release the Joker.
Part 5 have the Joker, Harley, and Bane against Batman and Catwoman.
Part 6 continue with Joker, introducing Penguin and towards the end introduce Dick Grayson. Wrap up that trilogy.
Thats my 2 cents.

I think Nolan is considering Cat Women if or when he makes the third movie. The reason is that I think there is a passing mention of a sorts in the moive.....
-- Spoiler Alert -- (for the people who have not yet seen the movie)...
When Fox shows Bruce the lighter and more flexible Bat suit stating that it is not as effective against bullets and knives as the previous one. Bruce asks if it will stop the dogs and Fox ends the dialog with a statement that "It will stop a Cat"......
Take it for what its worth but Nolan did let us know that Joker was the next villan in the first movie, so maybe.....

Congratulations on featuring Lucy Pinder.
She is much more than "just a pretty face". She is a top-notch television presenter as well. See http://www.lucy-pinder.tv/ for details. And she has ambitions towards the silver screen... perhaps you will be including her in an actual review one day!

I haven't seen this posted yet but do you think it was a little odd they never showed Gordon's daugher's face in the movie????
Now I heard that they planned on the Joker coming back for the 3rd movie. Did you think it might have been leading up to some sort of variation of the "The Killing Joke"????
Honestly, I think the franchise is way too mainstream now and that storyline is way too dark at this point, but I thought about it after seeing the movie a second time and noticed that Gordon's son had lines but his daughter had her face covered during the entire final scene.

I thought the dark knight was a boring movie
Posted By: guest (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 01:22 PM
You should of brought up Nightwing. You can make an awesome movie with the original Robin with flashbacks his family dying, Bruce Wayne and his training with Batman but still make it a movie on his character.
Posted By: Q (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 01:53 PM
I think considering that Batman is now on the run from the police, bringing in Catwoman would extend from this film's premise. We have a Batman being persuaded by the dark side in the form of a beautiful woman. I would also bring Bane in as well. A guy who maybe declares war on the Batman and Gotham is all for it, then when they realize how bad Bane is, they want Batman back.
I don't know. Something like that.

Love your article. Always great stuff. I like some of your Batman ideas. I'm a HUGE Harley Quinn mark. I just kept hoping she'd show up in some capacity at the end of TDK. I would have liked to see her after the credits in her Doctor's outfit.
I hope they bring the Joker back. So long as the character is played by another great actor who was both a friend and fan of Ledger, it is not disrespectful to Ledger. I can't imagine Ledger would want this character to die with him. Contact Depp and Day Lewis and see which one can and will do it. Even if he's not the main villain, you can't have Batman movies without the Joker. I think history has proven this.

with the way cgi is today, why not clayface?

Crispen Glover is the best person I can think of to completely ROCK the Riddler character. I always thought he'd of been a good Joker as well, but he's PERFECT for the Riddler.

I agree,
Please replace all Kim Kardishan and Lindsey Lohan with Lucy Pinder and Jamie Eason please.
P.S. Throw in some Gloria Santiago and Marzia Prince

Hey mike when you brought up the Robin part you said "What Drake does eventually convince him in this film is that he could help him with his computer and technology expertise especially since Lucius Fox has resigned."
Lucius did not resign, he said he will as long as that phone tapping machine is in use, When he put his name into after using it, it was destroyed so he did not have to resign. I do like your idea of of the robin part.
Posted By: Scott (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 05:57 PM
I wouldn't want a version of Nightfall on screen. The point of Bane was that he could outwit, as well as overwhelm, Batman. It wasn't all about his bod jacked on venom.
No. 7 is my favorite option, as I want to see the Riddler re-envisioned. Javier Bardem or Liev Schreiber could play him, he'd be cold and calculated, and you could base the whole thing on Hush. Nolan could bring that to the screen.
Posted By: Guest#4742 (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 06:32 PM
you can add me to the "Harvey Dent isn't dead - they faked it and he's locked away in Arkham" camp.
Posted By: soo (Guest) on July 29, 2008 at 08:12 PM
In my head, the next Batman storyline to do would be of the police chasing him down. Someone working with the police hires a new vigilante of sorts in Bane. Bane arrives, eager to take on the challenge, takes on the criminals of Gotham and breaks Batman. He's revered as a hero - that is, prior to a newer, souped up Batman's arrival (Azrael). Bruce is off rehabilitating but often receiving cryptic "clues" about a conspiracy under his nose...as Azrael reeks havoc on Gotham's populace - even killing - with Bruce unaware that his replacement has gone too far. Azrael and Bane have a showdown which ends with Bane incapacitated. Bruce returns as Batman, takes out Azrael and Azrael swears to change his ways and go on a spiritual quest. Bane and Batman come to an agreement that Batman was never the villain and Bane returns to where he came from. The man working along with the police, who taunted Wayne all along, winds up being the Riddler, who - after hearing about the demise of Batman (Azrael), acts under the assumption that Bane destroyed him as well and then unleashes his masterplan on Gotham. However, the original Batman, Wayne - whom the Riddler knew was Batman all along after the broken-back fiasco and who taunted him with clues about his upcoming heist/Bruce's girlfriend's identity/whatever, finally faces off with The Riddler and pummels him into submission. He has a chance to end The Riddler's life, but doesn't. This is shown for all to see and footage surfaces showing Azrael and Batman fighting and Batman winning. Eventually, the conclusion is reached that Azrael was the murderous Batman all along and THIS Batman is truly Gotham's protector.
It's essentially a story of redemption on all fronts, in relation to Bruce getting back to health, Batman returning as Gotham's savior, Azrael realizing the error of his ways, Bane seeing that he can't always just be the bounty hunter-type without asking questions, and The Riddler realizing he needs to overcome his obsession of asking too many questions, which is what led Batman right to his door. It ends with a hopeful message from Batman, addressing Alfred or Selina Kyle or whomever, about the future of Gotham and how people can stand up for what's right.
Also, if necessary (and I kinda included it in there), throw in a Catwoman subplot where the ailing (and recuperating) Bruce goes traveling with her, only to later discover she's going to these places to steal things. And, if you need 'em for cameos or something, throw in Two-Face and recast The Joker. But I basically say leave those two along as ALL of that would seem WAY overdone for my tastes.
OKAY! I'll admit it. I just wanna see Knightfall onscreen...:(...

i'd personally like to see riddler or penguin back in the batman movie-verse. since we're going for a-list actors i'd hit up johnny depp for edward e nigma and philip seymour hoffman for one oswald cobblepott. maybe even throw in clayface as a minor villain. he could be a very visually stunning character if done right. the dick grayson idea is amazing though.

Posted earlier in the day, still haven't seen TDK yet (somehow I Fandango'ed tickets for tomorrow and not today), but something I forgot to mention - I'd like to officially nominate Joseph Gordon-Levitt for Heath Ledger's replacement when the Joker comes back. Not only did they star together in "10 Things I Hate About You", but Gordon-Levitt has followed a similar path to Ledger, doing "safer" movies at the start of his film career and gradually branching out to darker, more mature roles. After seeing him in Stop/Loss, I could really see him stepping into Ledger's shoes and doing an excellent job.

I really like most of these ideas, but I could live without Harley Quinn (never dug the character), and Bane would end up garbage like Venom in Spiderman 3. But the Batman Beyond idea is just f'n atrocious. My head hurts even thinking that the seeds of an idea could have possibly been planted in some studio executive's tiny little mind.
